Procedures for checking Nintendo DSi games out to the public

The DSi and games are only checked out to a youth with a PowerCard in their name.  

The DSi and games each have a barcode to scan and checkout through Millennium just as you would a laptop.  The difference is no ID is required to check out the games.

The DSi folder has pictures with the titles of the games. You will also find the age limit for the games written below the game title.   Examples are “Teen 13+, E 10+, and E”.  The “E” is for everyone, “E 10+ is everyone 10 years of age and older, and “Teen 13+” are games for teens 13 years of age and older.

The checkout time limit is 2 hours. So please remind the patron of when the DSi and games should be returned (The time printed on the receipt will be different so make sure to tell them 2 hours.)

After checking out the items through Millennium there is a sign-in sheet that is used by the library for statistics, DSi check out counts as a gaming program.  The staff should put date, name, game title, and the time they are signing out the game cartridges (not the DSi).  Once the youth returns the game the staff member should sign-in the time the games were returned.  If checking out another game the patron should sign the log again for this title. The youth can switch games up to 3 times during the check out period.
